Comparing SAE's side by side
2 Attachment(s)
Actually I'm trying to learn how to photograph coins with my Dimage A2
camera and thought I'd compare two coins side by side. The top image is straight out of the green box and looking at it under magnification I could find no flaws. The box has a receipt that is dated 8/11/05. The box no.#1235, which I will assume means the 1235th box packed. Does it imply these coins are candidates for that coveted designation of First Strike? I don't know. The second coin was from Littleton. There are definite flaws, besides the splotchy toning that is developing. Several pits which look like white specks with one quite large almost dead center. My guess is the pits were in the blanks before the strike occurred. I could not discern any difference in the quality of strike, one from the other, as far as pressure or strike plate wear. Some other areas of ignorance I'm having are file formatting and creating URL's. Having a limit of 197.7 KB sure makes these images small after I upload them to GIM. Any one have any pointers? |
